Away too long...

Sadly, I had to practically force myself to get back to inking.  I'm kinda okay with the results of page six, but not really.  I don't think it was a very strong page to begin with...  alas.

In other news, I've been scouring some of the more known publisher sites and found a good number of places to submit to where they might actually print a small comic story of mine.  Probably not, but these guys seem more likely than the big publishers.  And I'd feel a little more legitimized if some of the crap I produce could pass editorial muster, y'know?

New Stuff!

First off, anyone who hasn't read Yotsuba&! is my enemy of freedom and should be subject to horrible torture up to and including Bolgarian Nipple Torture.  There's just something about a 4-year-old running around seeking vengeance with a water pistol that I find hilarious.  HILARIOUS, you philistines!

Also, here's the finished sampling of The Anticraft thingy I did )

I didn't get as much done over the weekend as I would have liked as far as writing or drawing are concerned.  I did get the inks for Page 4 )

and Page 5 ) completed, though.  That was nice, particularly how page 5 came out.  Can't wait to add the tones and word balloons to that one.

On the February project front...  I've been kinda dragging my feet on it, but I think I'm going to go with an idea I've tinkered with on and off for a while involving Greek mythology.  I know, I just love to nerd it up.  It would revolve around pretty much my favorite figure from that pantheon, Hephaestus (Vulcan to the Romans), and his step-son Eros (Cupid) trying to get Heph and his estranged wife, Aphrodite (Venus) back together.  The reason I'd never done much with the project is because there really wasn't a way to get them together without really savaging the character of one or the other.

But, leave to Shakespeare to give me ideas, particularly Much Ado About Nothing.  I've read the play and seen the movie, and it's quite fun.  Might rent it over the weekend so The Wif and I can watch it together.  Valentine's Day is coming up, as well as her birthday, AND SHE STILL HASN'T DECIDED WHAT SHE WANTS.

Rassum frassum...

Well, it's been a mixed bag so far tonight.

On the one hand, I got my copy of Rose & Isabel today, and that was a pretty nifty read.  The creator of which, Ted Mathot, works for Pixar.  The art and idea behind the story are pretty cool (can you say Civil War-era Amazon sisters?).

Also managed to finish all my pages for the Batman mini-comic.  I'm thinking of adding another page, though, just to change the note on which it ends.  On the whole I'm just really glad to finish something, but now I've got to think of another beginning.

On the other hand, it's my last weekend as teamlead for my shift (I am officially starting in my new position on Wednesday), and boy has the night just kept wearing on despite being pretty busy.  I am often surprised that our group seems to be the only competent data center in the whole corporation.  Not that we don't try to perform well, but more that the others... don't.

It doesn't help that the A/C seems to have gone out in the command center.  Blek.
