Today was a day for laziness.  But that could have been because I slept for crap the other night.  Who knows.

Anywho, after both Little Man and I had copious amounts of nappage (I laid down at 11 and got up around 4; Little Man apparently was out from 3 to nearly 8pm), I - in a foolhardy display of stupidity - decided to take him to see Cars.  This was stupid because it's a Saturday night and I left to go to the local drive-in around an hour before sundown.  Yeah.  To have been let in by start time much less find a good spot, I would have had to have left about TWO hours before sunset.  And I'm not spending TWO hours wrangling my 3-year-old in the sweltering heat just so we MIGHT get a chance to watch a two hour movie.  Nuh-uh.

So we ended up bumming around town until the last showing at a close theatre.  My progeny was surprisingly well-behaved even if he clamber around a couple empty seats and wouldn't even touch the popcorn I got exclusively for him.  There were only about a dozen people in the theatre total, and those sitting relatively close to us were amused at Little Man more than annoyed, so that was nice.

As for the movie...  well, an hour and a half (counting wait-time and previews) was a pretty good stint before Little Dude decided it had to be time to go.  I didn't fight it, so we left just before Lightning McQueen was given the Here's Where You're Going Wrong speech.  I imagine the slower pace of the character development stage of the movie may have contributed to Little Dude's waning interest.  He's normally more empathetic to humanoid characters (hence why he can watch Toy Story and Incredibles on nigh infinite repeat, but isn't into Monsters Inc), but man...  watching him watch the race at the beginning of the film was awesome.  He'd go from sitting back with his legs up to the edge of his seat to even leaning on the (thankfully unoccupied) seat in front of him.  Kid was INTO it.  ^_^

But he's in bed now, hopefully off to slumberland after our late night carousing.  It's Fathers' Day now which is pretty cool.  It seems to be off to a nice start as it is.
