The tired just hit so I'm trying to stay energized and active by reading a little and updating the ol' weblog. Yeah, you heard me. I said 'weblog' and not 'blog.' Ya know why? Because 'blog' is not a word. Not a real one self-respecting humans use, at any rate. If I'm expected to pay back $20K in student loans, by God, I'm going to get my money's worth.
Weblog indeed.
Let's see... right now I'm working my way through In Defense of Elitism by William Henry III. So far it's been an... interesting read. Certainly not politically correct. But I can see the point he's making: How by trying to make everyone feel equal, we're pulling down our best and brightest into the lowest common denominator. Hell, there are people who want to do away with grades in school! I know I was quite competitive about grades in school, especially with Dave in mathematics.
Alas. It just means I'm going to have to pay close attention to Little Dude's school work and progress as he gets older. The past couple days I've been attempting to read more adult literature to him. I figured some of Kipling's tales in The Jungle Book would allow for some fun and push the ol' attention span. I started with Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. He doesn't seem to mind while he's in his chair, but largely he's too busy running around to sit still for very long.
I should also probably be working on my art stuff. I finished the pencils for a page the other night, but I'm a little too wiped out to want to try my hand at inking. Of course, you'd think I'd be used to it by now, since every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I alter my sleep schedule from either night to day or vice versa. Yeah yeah, wah wah. Sucking it up now.
